Let me introduce myself to those who may be wondering who the pastor at SHBC is. I was raised in a godly home and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at a young age. I grew up in West Michigan, attended public school, and was active in sports. My wife, Cassie, and I met in early high school through our church and were married after graduating from college. After 21 years of running our own businesses, I started seminary in 2007, trusting it was the next step God had for me.
We were blessed with five children in the first 14 years of marriage, and we are now at the stage of life where we get to enjoy watching them get married. We love the Word of God and believe that it holds the power of salvation for both the Jew and the Gentile. God opened a door for Cassie and me, and in 2011 we moved to Hernando County, where we have been blessed to serve Christ's body at SHBC for over a decade. We look forward to continuing to serve God's people here for many years to come.
Let me take a moment to share why I chose to pursue a role as a pastor within a church. Cassie and I have sought God's truth from His Word since we were young, and over time we have come to see the powerful blessing that living by His Word brings to individuals, parents, and children. We have seen God's Word change us and transform the lives of employees through Bible studies in our businesses. We want this same blessing poured out upon the families and individuals in this community. "God's Word does not return void but always accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent." We have seen God do the miraculous in and around us throughout our entire married life - to the point that we now expect His amazing grace and faithfulness in every situation.
Our desire in serving at SHBC is NOT to run a religious institution or business – it’s about building up the body of Christ and living out the Gospel together. Our intimacy with God stirs in us a longing for others to experience the daily blessing of a relationship with the living God through His Word and Spirit. The Church is the gathering of all God's adopted children in Jesus Christ, and the place where He is proclaimed above everything else. Those who are a part of the Church ought to enjoy gathering together as we live out our relationship with other adopted children in God's Kingdom. Being at Church should not be seen as a duty, but as the best part of the week – a time where we gather to proclaim the authority of God's Kingdom over all other principalities and powers.
Cassie and I warmly invite you to visit anytime - we would love to meet you personally and hear your story. If you have the time or interest, please feel free to join us during service or stop by the church office for a chat. The door is always open.
In Christ's Service,
Pastor Kent Gee
